Functional Diagnostics

Department of Ultrasonic and Functional Diagnostics and Endoscopy

Department of Ultrasonic and Functional Diagnostics and Endoscopy of the Republican Hospital named after A.Heydarov of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan is equipped with the latest technologies in accordance with international standards, and provides comprehensive diagnostic services.

Ultra sonic testing - the role of color spectral Doppler ultra sonic testing is indispensable for early diagnosis of various diseases of the liver, gallbladder, pancreas, kidney, prostate, thyroid and breast cancer, gynecological and other organs.
Doppler echocardiography - a method of ultra sonic testing to evaluate the structure and function of the heart. During testing the detection of congenital heart disease, heart failure, myocardial infarction, blood flow characteristics of large vessels, intracardiac thrombus formations are conducted.
Color Doppler sonography is a method that determines the speed and direction of blood flow in the vessels. The testing allows you to check congenital malformations in the system of blood vessels, fetal blood circulation, to determine precisely the narrowing of the arteries and veins of the extremities, aneurysms, blood clots.
The special training for ultra sonic testing is not required, contraindications and consequences are not marked.

ELECTROCARDIOGRAPHY (ECG)  (Philips Page Whiter Trim III, Shiller AT–101, MAC-2000)

Electrocardiography (ECG) - a diagnostic technique based on the detection of electrical potentials arising from the heart. ECG is the primary, friendly, fast, cheap and informative method of examination in the diagnosis of diseases of the cardiovascular system.
Indications for ECG: all heart diseases (arrhythmia, heart failure, valvular disease, myocardial infarction, etc.), hypercholesterolemia (high blood cholesterol), prior to surgery, pregnancy, 1 time per year after 40 years.

Treadmill test (exercise load test) - this test evaluates the activity of the heart during physical exertion.
During an observation patients begin to walk on the machine and with the speed increasing every 3 minutes (depending on the selected program) the continuous measurement of heart rate, blood pressure and ECG are conducted.
Treadmill test is a method of observation to determine the diagnosis and effectiveness of the treatment of diseases of the cardiovascular system, the degree of influence of physical stress on the occurrence of arrhythmias and blood pressure.
Treadmill test is a valuable method for the determination of pathological changes occurring on the basis of physical exertion, but not detected in the ECG at rest.

HOLTER MONITOR (Holter Telesmart-H/SH 11735)

o    Holter Monitor - monitoring the blood pressure and ECG 24 hr.
o    Monitoring of ECG 24 hours - monitoring is conducted in the home. By means of a small device electrocardiogram of heart activity is continuously observed for 24 hours. With Holter monitoring painless (hidden) ischemia, sudden spasms of the heart vessels during sleep, paroxysmal tachycardia, heart rate fall - bradycardia or stop - AV blockade, bandwidth and arrhythmias are defined, which can not be detected with a simple ECG.

o    Monitoring of blood pressure 24 hours - During the monitoring patients' pressure and pulse for 24 hours (during sleep, at loads, during rest) are recorded at regular intervals. The role of this method is huge during the early detection of hypertension and in the selection of effective treatment.

Electroencephalography (EEG) - the safest method of examination to identify and assess the electrical activity of the brain. Electroencephalography is the main method of diagnosis of epilepsy, and its role is invaluable when observing the dynamics in the treatment of this disease. EEG is an important method of examination to differentiate the causes of loss of consciousness, seizures of hysteria, speech disorders in children, detection of vascular disease of the brain, certain mental disorders and other pathologies.

ENDOSCOPY (Gastroskop Pentax LH – 150 PC, Gastrointestinal videoscop Olympus GIF type Q150, Colonovideoscop Olympus CF type Q150L/I)

Endoscopy - a method of study of hollow organs with a special optical instrument - the endoscope. Endoscopy is widely used in various diseases of the digestive and other (urological, respiratory) systems for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.

The diagnostic endoscopic methods include the following: fibrogastroduodenoscopy, colonoscopy, biopsy, PH-metry, chromoendoscopy.
Endoscopy can identify for a short period without surgical intervention in the digestive system redness, erosion, wounds, ulcers at the early stages. Early endoscopy is the most sensitive and specific method to identify the source of bleeding in the upper and lower parts of the gastrointestinal tract.
